Nottingham Forest are thought to be interested in signing a player who barely played during a previous spell on Trentside.
We’re officially at the silly season stage when it comes to the transfer window. Forest are being linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry in world football – or at least that’s what it feels like!
The Reds are after a striker. Santiago Gimenez and Eddie Nketiah are two linked with Forest and transfer guru Graeme Bailey told us which one the club would prefer to sign.
Last season, attacking options were in short supply and that almost cost Forest their Premier League status. However, Luton’s woeful form ensured the Reds remained in their top flight at their expense.
The loan market was used appallingly by Forest last season and with that in mind, the latest player linked with a move to Forest is a strange one, to say the least.

Rodrigo Ribeiro could return to Nottingham Forest
The Portuguese attacker joined Forest on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign but barely made an appearance under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Now, according to A Bola, it’s believed that the Sporting Lisbon player could make a return to the City Ground before the transfer window closes.
Ribeiro has been with the senior squad at his current club for pre-season. At the weekend he wasn’t in the squad as a 6-1 win over Nacional was secured.
He did come on for a single minute during the opening-day win over Rio Ave, however, and he might have anticipated playing a part this season.
Now, it feels like he could be on the move again, with Forest linked to the player who played five times and accumulated just 15 minutes of game time at the club.
Surely Forest won’t sign Ribeiro
Reporters across Europe know that Forest want a striker. Therefore, why not fill some column inches with a wantaway talisman joining a club that he’s been at before?
This feels like a lazy link. Unless Forest are going to sign Ribeiro and nurture him with the B-Team first then it feels like a non-starter.
Ribeiro isn’t going to come in and take a shirt away from Chris Wood or Taiwo Awoniyi and he doesn’t improve the squad a great deal either.
At 19, Ribeiro does have potential. However, Forest have landed enough players with potential this summer and now it’s about bolstering the starting eleven.
In our view, this is merely an idle report from Portugal and we’d be staggered if Ribeiro found his way back into Espirito Santo’s squad this summer.
